tumbl.weed update
Well, my new personal project is tumbl.weed: an AIR client for Tumblr using Flash.
Why AIR? It is new and I would like to learn it. Plus, can bring Tumblr to the desktop.
Why Flash? I know how to use it and I think it will be useful for visualization and speed when adding posts to my Tumblr.
Why Tumblr? I think it is a pretty neat product. A new way to express yourself and your steam of consciousness on the web (and it is relatively new).
So what do I have planned? Aside from your generic posts using the Tumblr API, I would like to make things EASIER. Well… Tumblr is already pretty easy… so this is a bit of a challenge. Ideally I would like to make something that is easy to use and that people will fire up when they start their computers. Something that you would keep open all day and jump to when you want to post something (even when your browser is closed!).
Likewise I would like to make the experience of Following other Tumblogs a bit more enjoyable. I personally just use Google Reader right now for that… but there is probably a another way.
Lastly, some cool visualizations of Tumblogs. Perhaps scrolling down the page isn’t the only way to digest and “experience” a tumblog.
Where the project stands: Well I have kinda just started. So far the core of the AS3 Tumblr API is built. This includes all posts except for video (specifically uploading to Vimeo, embeding is done). Seems to work quite well so far. The design is following the current Tumblr design (this could change down the road, but it looks great right now). Have to start somewhere :)
